  Vincent’s importance in traditional music has long been recognised and appreciated and the discography that follows, along with the indicative listing of significant recordings of Vincent, gives some sense of the extent of material that exists in different formats and locations. However despite his profile and reputation and being such an integral part of the national traditional music scene, it is notable that good quality sound recordings of Vincent’s music
  have not been all that widely or easily available to the public apart from his inclusion in a number of popular anthologies of Donegal fiddle music. The purpose of the present album is to offer the listener a comprehensive overview of Vincent’s playing (1962-2009), combined with some samples of his stories, so that his musicianship and artistry are more fully and more accurately represented and also in the hope that his wonderful music and personality will reach a wider and possibly even a new audience within Ireland and further afield.
